Why should we learn Hebrew?
“In that you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, it will be a divided kingdom; but it will have in it the toughness of iron, inasmuch as you saw the iron mixed with common clay. {As} the toes of the feet {were} partly of iron and partly of pottery, {so} some of the kingdom will be strong and part of it will be brittle. And in that you saw the iron mixed with common clay, they will combine with one another in the seed of men; but they will not adhere to one another, even as iron does not combine with pottery.” Daniel 2:41-43
We are in the times of “clay mingled with iron.” In these times we find ourselves fighting against the iron will of ignorance that refuses to allow the clay of humanity to be shaped into what Yahweh intended. Only by following the blueprint, can we achieve the correct assembly and design. The correct design is our original identify and relationship with a Living, Loving Creator. The enemy of Humanity who over millennium, has attempted to hide and disfigure the Beauty of Holiness in Salvation revealed in the Torah is now under attack as more and more people return to their “first love:” Hebraic roots of faith.
Read all of Malachi 3. We are the ones being told to “return” to our Father and stop robbing Him of His praise, His justice, His mercy and support. And like rebellious Israel, we shout, “Return?” As though confused in what we need to return to. As once called “christians” we have been taught to reject the True Root of our Salvation John 4:22 by the cleverly taught misinterpretations and cultural injections of men following an agenda of evil.
The prophets were men and women sent to us to “make straight the paths” for the coming of our Torah Made Human, Yeshua. And Yeshua Himself, the Living Torah, came to dismantle the “fence” system of oral laws and traditions that overtook the Pure Teaching of Torah and as Yeshua said, “prevented them from going in.”
We as the tribes of Israel, scattered among the nations, the “virgins” who went to sleep under slavery, the Dark Ages of prejudice and God-hatred. The apostate “pure” church was set up to destroy the truth of the sons of Yahweh by misinterpreting and misdirecting, rejecting teachings and finally replacing and elevating personal letters of the apostles/emissaries above the God-breathed Torah.
These faithful followers of Yeshua would have been horrified at the elevation of their letters above the inscribed Voice of God! To adhere to and eradicate everything else to cleave to a one sided conversation and make their message Canon is simply the same sin of the Pharisees who elevated their oral laws and traditions above Torah they faithfully scribed.
In Matthew 23:13, 14 Yeshua declared, “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Therefore you will be punished more severely.” And again in 23:15 “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.”
The so-called Christian churches have committed the exact same sin! Just as Israel/Ephraim (10 tribes including some of the Levites) went off in sin following paganism and man-made rules and regulations and traditions, so Judah (2 tribes of Benyamin, Yehudah and Levi) went after their own form of paganism by codifying cultural mores and making these more important and preeminent than the Torah.
Yeshua was angry with the leadership of His time because they had continuosly taught a degenerated importance of traditional observances above the Voice of the Father, that separated the people and set up a hierarchy that was never intended by the written word: Torah.
Yahweh wants our relationship with Him to be “a delight.” He told us not to “add to or take away from” His words. Deut 4:2. In the writings (scriptures) we find Peace, Love, Joy, Wisdom, Morality, Holiness. In human tradition we find bondage, inconsistency, arbitrary changes based on culture and location, manipulation for domination of any group of people above others, and practices that do not esteem Yahweh’s “opinion, judgment, view” [glory, Greek = 1391 Strong's doxa].
It is these different views from different cultures and peoples that cause the rifts, divisions and strife that are evident in every congregation today – Hebraic or Christian. We were told to “speak the same things” to not have “division among us” yet, clearly then as now, that is a major point of fracture between the so-called faiths.
We are separated in many things – especially our practices of “holidays.” We want to esteem, revere and follow pagan traditions, customs and reject the holy days of Yahweh. We often cite the Word of God as reason we claim we are not supposed to follow the Feasts determined by YHWH since the “Old Testament” is done with.
One statement is found in Colossians 2:16. This seems to disprove of observing the Torah Feasts of the Lord our God. “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath.”
This same misinterpretation is applied to “days, months, times and years” in Galatians 4:9. It again seems that Rav Shaul (Rabbi Paul or Teacher Paul) is “chastising the Galatians for keeping Elohim’s appointed times (Lev 23), e.g. that he was reprimanding them for going “back” to observing the feasts because they were no longer necessary.”
If you read the entire chapter in context, you’ll find that Rav Shaul (Paul) was actually admonishing the new beleivers not to get caught up in either their past pagan practices (Gal 4:9) or get into following the oral laws and traditions rather than the pure Torahnic teaching of how Yahweh wanted His Feasts to be celebrated.
Yahweh Himself declared there is “one law” for all people (Ex 12:49). He also said He would “magnify His Torah” and make it “honorable,” or worthy of Honor (Isa 42:21). Over and over again, Shaul (Paul) was quick to point out that the Torah was “holy,” “good,” and “spiritual” Rom 7:12, 14. Torah is loved, revered and held in the same esteem as YHWH! After all, it is His Voice, His Word given to humans. Jeremiah 44:23, Daniel 9:11
Another glaring misinterpretation is the scripture Romans 10:4 that appears to say the “Law” or Yahweh’s teachings are “over” ended by Christ. An actual word by word translation in the Greek says “Christ Eternal Law for righteousness individually, collectively.” The Greek word telos means “unto the end” signifying an eternal state. This is very different from “an ending” of something, as is the common interpretation.
Why are these scriptures interpreted in this manner? Scriptures are twisted to support anti-Hebraic thoughts and to destroy the living work of Truth given to the people chosen by God.
Remember – we are not in hand-to-hand combat against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers of evil in heavenly places that want to make sure the Truth is never known. It is not an ethnic group of people that seeks to destroy the people of God, but the devil himself and his wicked, corrupted minions whose mission is to eradicate truth from the earth. What better way to stop truth than to hide it, disguise it, twist it so people are confused and reject it?
Why then should we learn Hebrew? So we can read the Words of Yahweh in the language in which it was preserved. We want to learn the words as our Lamb spoke them, so we will understand when the Shofar blows and He appears, we will understand.
“Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,*we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2
